Individuals and families around the world can immigrate to Canada within just a few months through the Express Entry immigration selection system. Express Entry, first introduced in 2015, has become the main driver of economic immigration to Canada and one of the most popular immigration systems globally. The Express Entry Programme is designed to assist employers and provinces to connect with applicants who have the required skills and experience to adapt and establish themselves in Canada. The Government of Canada uses this scheme to choose skilled immigrants who have a genuine interest to settle in Canada and take part in their economy as permanent residents.
The applicants must qualify under one of the Federal Economic Immigration programs to qualify for express entry and is determined under a point scoring system with maximum points of 1200.
Provinces have also introduced programs associated with Express Entry, through their Provincial Nominee Programs. Applicants within Express Entry are ranked against each other according to points awarded though core attributes; additional points can be gained through a Provincial Nomination or Job offer (LMIA based). The applicants are required to complete their profile providing detail of skills, work experience language ability etc. and enters into the pool of candidates. Invitations are issued on a regular basis every 2-4 weeks if the candidate meets the minimum CRS points, has a valid LMIA job offer in Canada or if nominated by a Province.
The Quebec Investor programme is the only immigration program in Canada specifically designed for immigrant investors. The program requires applicants to demonstrate that they have at least two years of management experience obtained in the five years preceding their application and must relate to planning, management, and control of financial, human, or material resources. Foreign investors with net assets totalling at least CAD$2 million may be eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residence by signing up to invest through the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program.The applicant’s immediate family members may also be included on the application and obtain Canadian permanent residence, enjoying all the benefits that this status bestows, including universal health care and access to world-class education. Investors must make a five-year term investment of CAD$1,200,000 with the organization Investissement Québec – Immigrants Investisseurs Inc. The Quebec Immigrant Investor Program is not accepting new applications between November 1, 2019, and July, 1, 2020.
