The United Kingdom’s Tier 1 visa immigration scheme is part of the five tier points based visa system for immigration to the UK. Tier 1 visas are for eligible entrepreneurs, investors, and for the very small number of people who can come under the “Exceptional Talent” visa category.
This route will be closed on 29 March 2019 and the applications submitted on or before 28 March 2019 will be considered under the current Entrepreneur category. Extension applications for Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) migrants will remain open until 5 April 2023, and settlement applications until 5 April 2025. The Entrepreneur route will be replaced by Innovator route from 29 March 2019.
Tier 1 Entrepreneur
Tier 1 Entrepreneur Route (prior to 29 March 2019)
If you are a foreign businessman from outside the EU and would like to run your own business in the UK, you should seriously consider the UK Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa. If you wish to invest in the UK by starting or taking over a business or by becoming a part-owner of a UK business, you can come to the UK under the Entrepreneur sub-category of Tier 1. Please be aware that you must be actively involved in the running of the business. In order to qualify, you must score at least 95 points under the Tier 1 points-based system.
With a Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa, you can operate your business (or businesses) as a limited company, earn income as a self-employed individual, and even study part-time. Together with any dependents that join you under the Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa, you can enjoy travel beyond the UK for up to 180 days every year while earning your qualifications for Indefinite Leave to Remain, and ultimately, British Citizenship. Dependents are also able to work and earn an income.
This route is replaced with the Tier 1 Innovator Route from 29 March 2019.
